THE Graceful Gay

About

The man behind the manners.

I spent the first half of my life growing up in the South and hiding out way deep in the closet. I was always polite and said no, after you at doorways and meant it. If you'd met me at a dinner party, you'd have told your mother about me.

What you wouldn't have known (at least I thought so) was that I was wearing a heavy costume I thought I'd taken off when I finally came out around 30 after drinking all the wine at my cousin's wedding. No one told me I'd have to keep coming out to new friends, coworkers, clients, etc., or how to do it.

That little missed detail kept me editing for years, and never pushing back on the occasional wrong assumption that the someone I was seeing was a 'she'. I spent a lot of time hiding my NSFW thoughts, and most days my inner dialogue still needs a chaparone, but you'd never know it meeting me.

So I built this place to share thoughts, build community and have some fun!

The Graceful Gay is a confessional and field guide of sorts for late bloomers (and perhaps some who have yet to bloom, or admit any blooming is in the cards at all!) who are ready to laugh along with those dirty thoughts and maybe share or pick up a few tips along the way.

You are loved. You are beautiful. You deserve respect. And you are not going to hell. I'd know, I spent thirty years looking for the exit.

Pour something. Sit properly. Or don't.
